Renée Peet Withdraws
from 2023 School Board Election Ahead of Early Voting
Renée Peet Withdraws from the 2023 Election October 11, 2023
With a heart full of gratitude for the invaluable learning experience and the privilege of connecting with our vibrant community, I announce my withdrawal from the local school board race. My journey began with a deep commitment to upholding the values that matter most to our community, and I am thankful for this opportunity. However, changing circumstances have prompted this reflective and necessary decision.
One of the driving forces behind my entry into the race was the concern about extremist candidates and their potential impact on our community. Throughout the campaign I learned that the strength of our community's shared values has prevailed, mitigating the need for my continued candidacy.
Furthermore, shifts in my professional responsibilities have led me down a path of increased travel, making it challenging for me to serve effectively as a school board member. I believe that dedication and being present are essential in such a role.
Throughout this campaign, I have had the honor of meeting numerous engaged and passionate community members. I deeply appreciate the chance to connect with individuals who share my commitment to quality education and community well-being.
I have been particularly impressed by the caliber of the other 13 candidates competing for the 4 open seats. I have the utmost confidence in their abilities and unwavering dedication to the betterment of our schools.
In recognition of my profound respect for my fellow candidates and my faith in their potential to lead, I proudly endorse four exceptional individuals who have also answered the call to serve our community: Rani Dasi, Allison Willis, Barbara Fedders, and Taylor Tally.
While I step back from the race, my passion for education and community betterment remains undiminished. I will continue to advocate for quality education in Chapel Hill.
